The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasizes that the Islamic world “has awakened,” Ankara pushes regional solutions, and results from CAATSA sanctions and the Halkbank case are expected in 2026.

Turkey is positioning itself as a key regional diplomatic player, linking its strategy with Donald Trump’s approach, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

In his remarks, Fidan stated:

“The Islamic world has awakened. The region has awoken from a deep 100-year slumber. We understand what we can achieve when we act together. Mr. Trump’s foreign policy line essentially aligns with ours.”

Fidan expressed optimism that tangible results will emerge in 2026, particularly regarding the lifting of CAATSA sanctions and the Halkbank case, highlighting that the efforts of 2025 are expected to bear fruit.

He also emphasized the importance of regional solidarity and the “constructive role” of the U.S. in Gaza, stressing that local countries should handle regional issues themselves.

On the military front, Turkish newspaper Milliyet reports that Ankara and Washington are close to a technical solution regarding the S-400s, potentially paving the way for F-35 fighter jets for Turkey via an interim arrangement.

Meanwhile, Aksam reports that NATO has decided to acquire Turkish software for a tactical forces link management center, enabling the army, navy, and air force to communicate via a unified system.

Turkey’s optimism for 2026 relies on diplomatic, economic, and military tools, aiming to strengthen regional influence and restore relations with the U.S. sustainably.
