Camping tourism in Greece is rapidly gaining momentum

Camping tourism in Greece is gaining momentum, with particularly encouraging estimates in terms of numbers, bookings and occupancy in the camping accommodations at popular destinations.

Speaking to state broadcaster ERT, the President of the Panhellenic Association of Camping Business Owners, Antonis Delidimitriou, emphasized that camping traffic is satisfactory compared to last year and the year before last, and expressed the opinion that things will get even better.

This year it was observed that tourist traffic has increased compared to the two previous years, which is optimistic as it shows that the pandemic has not left its mark on Greek tourism, while many elderly campers from foreign countries, who have been visiting Greece since they were young, continue to visit the country.

In terms of cost, many tourists choose camping not only to save money, but also to enjoy a more diverse lifestyle away from the comforts of a hotel room.

As the president of the Panhellenic Association of Camping Business Owners mentioned, the cost of staying for a night in a tent for two people ranges from “25 to 30 euros”.
