Germany buried all Greek hopes with a 3-point shower in Berlin in EuroBasket 2022 quarterfinal matchup.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was sent off the court for two unsportsmanlike foul in a match where the Greek national team made its worst appearance in the Eurobasket 2022 tournament and was ultimately eliminated by Germany.

The Greek Freak left immediately after being sent off the court and went into Greece’s locker room, with Gazzetta’s camera also there and recording his reactions.

Giannis wasn’t the only star who finished the game earlier. Dennis Schroder received a second technical foul with 3:48 left in the fourth quarter.

German star accumulated 26 points (5/9 2PT, 3/6 3PT, 7/7 FT), 8 assists, 3 rebounds, 4 turnovers, 1 steal, and 27 EFF.

Both national teams were trading buckets, with Germany holding game reigns in their hands. Franz Wagner scored a couple of baskets in a row, and Germany had plus 16 with 5:30 to go in the fourth (96-80). The remaining time of the match was a mere formality.

Although Germany drained 7 threes in the first six minutes of the game and created an early 11-point lead (22-11), Giannis Antetokoumpo responded with a monstrous performance, delivering 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists over eight minutes. Greece trailed 27-31 after the first period.

Greece found an X-factor in Giannoulis Larentzakis in the second tally. Olympiacos player provided 8 points, Giannis had 6, and Greeks took initiative to their hands despite Andreas Obst-Dennis Schroder duo, who combined for 29 at halftime.

Kostas Sloukas put a cherry on top of the successful Greeks’ second quarter, draining a mid-court three at the buzzer.
