Chef Jamie Oliver in Thessaloniki for TV production

The Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism Maria Karagianni spoke about the dynamic course of Thessaloniki in the field of gastronomy and tourism.

Well-known British chef Jamie Oliver is in Thessaloniki for a television production and met with Thessaloniki Mayor Constantine Zervas to discuss the city’s gastronomy.

Zervas said Thessaloniki is included in UNESCO’s Network of Creative Cities, which is providing a new impetus for the city’s tourism development and its promotion abroad, and offered the famous chef two bottles of wine from the municipality’s urban vineyard.

As part of their meeting, the Mayor of Thessaloniki offered Jamie Oliver two bottles of “Mermaid”, the wine produced by the Municipality’s urban vineyard. The British chef showed particular interest in the operation of the urban vineyard of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, but also in the plans presented to him by Mr. Zervas regarding the organization of a wine auction for the first time, the proceeds of which will be allocated to support people who belong to sensitive population groups.
