Carmen reimagined through the eyes of acclaimed Dutch choreographer Didy Veldman

Principal ballerina at the Royal Ballet in London Natalia Osipova comes to Athens’ iconic Herod Atticus Theater with an interpretative dance drama based on Georges Bizet’s classic opera, “Carmen.” Hailed as a bold and modern version of the classic tale, choreographer Didy Veldman’s “Carmen Reimagined” is set in the present day and also stars Jason Kittelberger and Isaac Hernandez, as well as emerging stars Eryck Brahmania and Hannah Ekholm. It also features newly composed music by Dave Price. Tickets can be bought online at viva.gr or by phone at 11876.

Prosper Mérimée’s Carmen, the timeless story of love, passion and murder, returns to the stage in a new contemporary adaptation, merging the real lives of the dancers in this iconic classical ballet.Carmen reimagined through the eyes of acclaimed Dutch choreographer Didy Veldman allows the audience to see the play’s characters – Carmen, Don José and Escamillo – not only in front, but also behind the lights, where the dancers develop their their own relationships, alongside those of the roles they play. The famous story of the classic Carmen, slowly intrudes into their real life.
