Commenting on the local election results, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis on Tuesday explained in statements to SKAI TV that there are three main reasons that led to this result.

The first reason, he said, was political trust. “It is trust that is tested and confirmed every day, of course, and that is very honorable. Confidence in the prime minister and the government. Because despite the problems, he tries to provide solutions. And he is accountable for that every day. And it is also a matter of consistency,” he said.

The second, he added, has to do with the persons, especially at the level of regions and large municipalities, and the choices of the prime minister, of the New Democracy (ND) party.

Then as a third reason justifying the results, he mentioned the comparison. “On the one hand, we have a government that faces reality with self-criticism, with solutions, and, on the other hand, we have an opposition that denies reality.”

“The goal obviously remains to elect all the candidates, and indeed we will be supporting them throughout this week,” he concluded.
