Thessaloniki, Greece – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed his country’s ambition to join the European Union by 2030.
Speaking to a crowd of over 2,000 supporters in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, Rama outlined his vision for Albania’s future.
In a bid to strengthen ties with the Albanian diaspora, Rama announced that expatriates will be able to vote by mail in the upcoming 2025 general election. The event, marked by flag-waving and live music, showcased the enthusiasm of the Albanian community in Greece.
Despite recent tensions with Greece, including the imprisonment of a Greek-speaking Albanian politician, Rama insisted that bilateral relations remain strong. While a small protest was held outside the venue, the majority of attendees welcomed Rama’s message of hope and progress.
