SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras visited the Hellenic Data Protection Authority on Monday and met with its president Konstantinos Menoudakos on the issue of wiretapping and the violation of personal data.
“Today I had the opportunity to visit the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and talk to its head. A critical authority in a time when personal data, critical and sensitive personal data is violated,” Tsipras said after the meeting.
As he pointed out, “the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and the Authority for Ensuring the Privacy of Telecommunications were two independent authorities that played a crucial role of institutional counterweight in the Mitsotakis government’s operation to catalyze every concept of the Constitution and violate the privacy of communications in order to monitor almost half the political system.”
He also accused the prime minister of avoiding to give answers. “As he did not give any answer to the recent case of Artemis Seaford, executive of Meta, ex-Facebook, who was under surveillance both by the conventional method of the National Intelligence Service, but also by the illegal Predator software.”
