Greece, Romania, Bulgaria Sign Military Mobility Agreement

In addition to the mobility corridor, Romania and Bulgaria signed a memorandum to establish a regional special operations command centre. This centre will plan and manage NATO's special operations forces in the Black Sea region, further bolstering regional security.

On Thursday, Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece signed an agreement to facilitate the swift cross-border movement of troops and weapons to NATO’s eastern flank, as announced by Romania’s defence ministry. The deal aims to streamline military logistics amid heightened tensions following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, which underscored the need for rapid reinforcement capabilities.

The new military mobility corridor will harmonise transport routes among the three NATO and EU member states, reducing peacetime bureaucracy and enhancing emergency response efficiency. This initiative is part of broader efforts to address NATO’s concerns about bureaucratic obstacles hindering troop movements across Europe.
