“Green Cultural Routes” events across Greece, May 25-28

With museum archaeologists as a guide, visitors will be able to wander through the archaeological excavation that lies at the base of the building and carry out a magical journey through time, learning about the history and daily lives of the people that lived in the shadow of the Acropolis for more than 4,500 years.

On the weekend of May 27-28, the Acropolis Museum is to take part in the nationwide anniversary action “Green Cultural Routes” organized by the culture and sports ministry, with four presentations on “Walking in the ancient neighborhood of the Acropolis Museum.”

With museum archaeologists as a guide, visitors will be able to wander through the archaeological excavation that lies at the base of the building and carry out a magical journey through time, learning about the history and daily lives of the people that lived in the shadow of the Acropolis for more than 4,500 years.

The presentations, in Greek and in English, will last one hour and are available free of charge, with up to 20 people per presentation.

The presentations in English will be held at 11:00 on Saturday and 10:30 on Sunday, while those in Greek will take place at 13:00 on Saturday and 21:30 on Sunday.

The event is one of a host of activities being organized throughout the country between May 25 and May 28, with free admission, for the “Greek Cultural Routes” action, which was designed as a means of educating the public in matters relating to the protection of the country’s cultural heritage and natural environment and promoting sustainable growth.

This year’s celebration is attended by 44 Regional and Special Regional Services of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage from 37 Regional Units of the Territory in collaboration with 20 Municipalities, 21 Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science, as well as many non-public museums, Holy Metropolises, Environmental Centers of Education, Universities, schools, cultural clubs, environmental organizations, unions and citizen cooperatives, but also with many volunteers.

It now includes events that include presentations, educational programs, thematic tours, rambles, walks, cycling routes and artistic events.

It is pointed out that it is necessary to declare participation to the competent organizers.
