Having been on tour all over the country this summer, enduring Greek rock-folk singer-songwriter Sokratis Malamas sold out Athens’ Technopolis cultural center earlier this month, but will be back in the capital on September 27. Before his appearance at the Vrachon Theater in Vyronas, Malamas will be performing at the Gis Theater in Thessaloniki on September 19. For reservations and details, visit viva.gr or call 11876.
Sokratis Malamas was born on September 29, 1957 in Sykia, Halkidiki. His parents’ work reasons kept him in Stuttgart, Germany until his teenage years. Then he returned to Thessaloniki. The bouzouki that his father gave him as a gift was his initial stimulus for music. At thirteen he bought his first guitar as a reward for his performance in school lessons and at seventeen he attended guitar lessons at the Macedonian Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
