Mitsotakis: ‘No room for complacency – the ballot boxes must be filled from scratch’
New Democracy cannot afford to be complacent in this electoral battle as the ballot boxes will again be empty and must be filled from scratch, New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated on Wednesday at Kasteli, in the town of Kissamos in Chania, Crete.

“There must be no complacency, I say this everywhere and I am repeating it to you. We don’t have a score from the first round that we are keeping for the rematch. Here everything starts from scratch. The ballot boxes are empty and must be filled again,” he emphasised, saying it was imperative to reaffirm the result of May 21.

This demanded that ND should not become arrogant and consider the result a given, Mitsotakis said, but should instead show even greater humility and be conscious of the great responsibility that the people of Greece and Crete had placed on the party’s shoulders. Speaking earlier at Vryses in Apokoronos, meanwhile, he said that voters “will have in me an ally for all your demands, all issues that concern local society,” and he promised to walk alongside them “on the path of growth, the path of social cohesion, on the road of social justice.”

“My vision is for Crete to be green – environmentally green….a Crete that can truly take the lead,” ND’s leader said.At noon, Mitsotakis visited Platania and walked along its shopping high street, talking with local residents and shop keepers and even tourists that came out to greet him.
