Summer Exodus: Athenian Holidaymakers Flock to Greek Islands via Major Ports

The mass exodus of holidaymakers from Attica's largest ports continued over the weekend, with a significant number of ferries departing from Piraeus, Lavrio, and Rafina. According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, on Saturday alone, 25 ferries were scheduled to leave from Piraeus, 10 from Lavrio, and 9 from Rafina.

The previous day, a total of 23 ships departed from Piraeus, carrying 27,652 passengers and 5,436 vehicles. These ships traveled to various popular destinations in the Cyclades, Dodecanese, and Crete. Additionally, 42 ships set sail to islands in the Argosaronic Gulf, transporting 9,316 passengers and 1,112 vehicles. Meanwhile, 11 ships left the port of Lavrio, carrying 2,962 passengers and 859 vehicles, and another 17 ferries departed from Rafina with 8,561 passengers and 2,086 vehicles aboard.

The significant number of departures from these ports highlights the influx of holidaymakers eager to enjoy the beautiful Greek islands and coastal areas during the summer season.
