Energy secretary: “The whole truth about surveys for Greek hydrocarbon deposits”

Energy secretary talked hydrocarbon exploration, renewables, solar program and cap on TTF

The general secretary of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials of the Ministry of Environment and EnergyApocalyptic made a series ofrevelations concerning the ten-year saga of the Greek hydrocarbon research project.

Alexandra Sdoukou has been actively involved since 2011, when the first efforts to explore natural gas deposits began in Greece, and she tells in her interview with OT why the efforts were frozen in 2014, what the causes were, why TotalEnergies and Repsol withdrew while she also ascribed responsibilities to the SYRIZA government: “In all this discrediting of the national effort for hydrocarbons, the current official opposition contributed the most, by placing a “ban” on new investments and triggering an intense climate of uncertainty, which culminated in the motto: “we are not selling off the minerals resources” while she herself had negotiated some of the relevant contracts, Ms. Sdoukou noted acerbically.

The path to green transition

The general secretary of Energy assures in her interview with OT about the path towards a green energy transition and also about achieving the goal of zero carbon dioxide emissions in 2050: “The goals we set as a government for the country’s energy transition and for zero carbon balance by 2050 will be met in full and in some cases, ahead of the original schedule,” he states categorically.

She talked about the government’s goal, which is to attract investments of 35 billion euros in RES up to 2030, while announcing the pre-publication of the program application guide for subsidizing the installation of photovoltaics and batteries on roofs at the end of November. She also revealed to OT about when and how industries will limit electricity consumption.

Alexandra Sdoukou, speaking to OT also explained why high subsidies are no longer required on electricity bills and regarding the Greek proposal of the ceiling on the price of natural gas, TTF makes known the government’s position in view of the Council of Energy Ministers of the EU, on November 24.
