The British Guardian: Greece was one of the most visited places on the planet in 2022

In 2023, writes publication, it is expected that the presence of the British in Greece will be even stronger. The Guardian notes that last year American travelers returned en masse to Greece.

In the 2022 season, Britons visiting Greece for the first time surpassed the Germans, who had been Greece’s No. 1 visitor for decades. The publication emphasizes that the recovery of tourism in the country helped the Greek economy grow by 5.6% after the pandemic.

Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias told the publication that the British, who spend a lot, are leading the way in Greek tourism:

“Yes, there may be an energy crisis, very high inflation and a war in the heart of Europe with households forced to save, but the data shows that the British are not sacrificing their summer holidays.”

The president of the Panhellenic Hoteliers Association, Grigoris Tassios, notes that the pre-bookings show that in 2023 the flow of tourists from the UK will be the same, if not better, than in 2022. He stressed that at the international exhibition World Travel Market, held in November last year in London, tour operators requested more flights and more seats.

The Guardian also notes that Greece was one of the most visited places on the planet in 2022, and the tourist season in the country has extended – it began in March and ended at the end of November.
