Androulakis: People who remember the junta will not allow democracy’s undermining

PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis on Friday visited Oropos prison, where hundreds of resistance fighters were tortured during the Greek military junta in 1967-1974.

Androulakis spoke of the 56th anniversary since the foreign-guided dictatorship led the Greek people into dark times that ended tragically with Cyprus’ invasion and occupation.

“I am here at Oropos, this martyred location, to honor the memory of our heroes, those who did not lose courage and who stood up to the foreign-led dictatorship,” Androulakis said. “We are obliged to remember. A people who remembers will not allow the undermining of democracy, human rights, and injury to the state of law,” he underlined, mentioning the resistance at Oropos by the late composer Mikis Theodorakis and the late politician Manolis Glezos,  among others.
