China’s Red Cross donates $100K for Greek people affected by fires

China’s Red Cross donated 100,000 US dollars to the Hellenic Red Cross for fire-afflicted Greek people, delivered in the form of a check on Friday by Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Greece Xiao Junzheng.

The check was handed over by the Chinese diplomat to Hellenic Red Cross President Antonios Avgerinos.

“The friendship that binds our two countries and our peoples is strong: a friend in need is a friend indeed,” wrote the Chinese embassy in on Twitter, announcing the ambassador’s visit to the offices of the Greek organization.

Xiao Junzheng also made known that China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday conveyed his condolences to his Greek counterpart George Gerapetritis on the loss of two pilots during firefighting operations in Evia in July.
