"There is no door that dialogue and negotiations cannot open to give diplomacy a chance," said the Turkish president.

“There is no door that dialogue and negotiations cannot open to give diplomacy a chance,” said the Turkish president.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his desire to have more “friends” and “solve” issues with regional countries during a cabinet meeting in Ankara on Monday night.

Regarding the visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Turkey, he said, “Like a double-headed eagle of the Seljuks, we are developing our relations with East and West.”

At the same time, he did not fail to send a message to Brussels about his country’s perspective on the state of relations.

In detail, in his statement, he said:

“We are trying to increase our friends. We have no problem that we cannot solve with the countries in our region. We believe there is no door that dialogue and negotiations cannot open. It is enough to approach with good intentions and give diplomacy a chance. The sequel will surely come with a little effort and a little sacrifice. Tomorrow, we will host in our country my brother, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah. Next week, on Monday, the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr Mitsotakis, will come to Ankara for an official visit. Like the double-headed eagle of the Seljuks, we will seek a way to develop our relations with the East and the West on the basis of our common interests.”

Regarding Euro-Turkish relations, Erdogan said: “Turkey is willing to improve its relations with the European Union and its member states, as long as the Principles of Law and Pacta Sunt Servanda are respected. However, for this to happen, the European Union must first shake off its strategic blindness and stop excluding Turkey. Turkey is the only way out of the tug-of-war in which Europe is trapped due to the rivalry between the powers in the East and the West of Europe. The sooner European leaders see and accept this reality, the better it will be for them.”
